Mission: Living Faith that Transforms Our World
Resurrection is a community of transformational servant leaders in West Plano and the surrounding areas. A church plant is an opportunity, an experience we make and share together. We are co-creating a new community where everyone feels known and it’s easy to plug in to serve.
God’s resurrection power is evident in our common life through our core values. We are people who live in service, stewardship, stories, and sharing. Here’s what we mean:
Service: Initially gathering around service in the community, we hope to tap into the heart of this generation that wants to make a difference and affect real change. Volunteerism is a door into the church and a path to discipleship. We demonstrate Jesus’ model of Servant Leadership, proclaiming in word and deed the love of God in Christ. (John 13:1-17 - "Washing the Disciples Feet" and the New Commandment)
Stewardship: We are Good Stewards of the gifts God has given us. This is our central core value. Stewardship is: “All that I do, with all that I am and all that I have, after I say, ‘I believe.’” We make our lives an offering (Romans 12:1-8) – giving time, talent, and treasure. For us, this is about discipleship, as well as practicing stewardship of creation in our planned green building.
Stories: We are storied people, engaging scripture, biblical teaching, and transformational practices. At Resurrection, you’ll find preaching and teaching that applies to our everyday lives. That's our way of saying the traditional Episcopal tenets of Faith, Tradition, and Reason shape our faith, touch our lives, and lead us further into the world where we proclaim like the first resurrection witnesses, “I have seen the Lord.” (John 20)
Sharing: We are inviting you! Bring a friend! Rather than wait for people to find us, we share our lives and our faith authentically, extending our hands, so it’s easy for people to join us in volunteerism or worship services. We welcome everyone: from those who haven't tried church yet to those who have but want to create a better experience of Christian community. (Matthew 28 - The Great Commission)
